About the last will and testament of famous American author H. L. Mencken.

WHERE THERE'S A WILL

HENRY LOUIS MENCKEN, U.S. author, died 1956

Last Will: The "Sage of Baltimore" left an estate valued at $30,000, bequeathed to his brother and sister and, after their deaths, to Johns Hopkins Hospital and the Enoch Pratt Free Library in Baltimore. The bulk of his literary correspondence went to the New York Public Library, and the Pratt Library received 16 volumes of unpublished works. By terms of the legacy, a certain number of these papers must await the year 1981 (for some, 1991) before their unsealing will satisfy scholarly curiosity.
