Information about Fruits: Peach

About peaches, information about the fruit, production, history and varieties in the world.

Peach

The U.S. and Italy produce about half of the world's crop. In the U.S., the peach is grown in Georgia, California, Texas, Arkansas, Oklahoma, and 30 other states. Tree-ripened peaches are by far the best. They should be yellowish, soft, and fragrant; fruit picked green won't ripen. They contain vitamin A. Peaches are canned and dried. Dried, they are usually treated with sulfur dioxide, which destroys their nutritional value.
