UNICORN HUNTERS--Founded in 1969 and "dedicated to the proposition that every man has a unicorn which he is predestined to hunt. It is not necessary that he actually find or slay this unicorn, merely that he diligently seek it." Official publication is The Woods-Runner. Sponsors annually, "Snowman Burning Rite to Mark End of Winter, Beginning of Spring," "Shakespeare's Birthday Party," and "Unicorn Hunting Season" (licenses and hunting guides are issued). Members have included newsman Harry Reasoner and Soupy Sales. Well over 3,000 members.

THE NEW ORIGINAL DANCING CUCKOOS--Founded in 1963 "to preserve the spirit of Laurel and Hardy, enjoy their films, confuse the laity." Sponsors annual Mae Bush Banquet at which time the Fine Mess Awards is given to "a public figure who has distinguished himself in the spirit of Laurel and Hardy." Members have included Orson Bean and Dick Van Dyke.

STONE SKIPPING AND GERPLUNKING CLUB OF MACKINAC ISLAND--Founded in 1969 "to encourage development of the sport of stone skipping." Publishes annual newsletter, The Boulder. Sponsors International Stone Skipping Tournament every year--current world record is 18 skips established in 1936 (prior to formal competition). 1,500 members.
