Who Really Rules: Liechtenstein is a tiny, wealthy tax haven, which owes much of its prosperity to the fees paid by some 20,000 to 30,000 foreign corporations that maintain letter-box "offices" there. It is a constitutional monarchy, with only male suffrage for most offices.
The principality is tied to Switzerland through a customs union, and it uses the Swiss franc as its currency. Switzerland is also responsible for Liechtenstein's defense and foreign relations. Liechtenstein earns about 8% of its budget from stamp sales.
