FALKLAND ISLANDS (ISLAS MALVINAS)

Location: Two major and 200 minor islands in the South Atlantic, northeast of Cape Horn. Size: 4,700 sq. mi. (12,173 sq. km.). Population: 2,000.

Who Really Rules: The Falkland Islands are a British colony, populated by British colonists who produce wool for export to the U.K. Argentina also claims the islands, calling them the Islas Malvinas, and the Argentinean air force provides the only regular air service.
