Born: Oct. 30, 1735, Braintree (now Quincy), Mass. Presidential Term: Mar. 4, 1797-Mar. 4, 1801. Highlights in Office: Dept. of the Navy established; Alien and Sedition Acts; peace treaty with France. Died: July 4, 1826, Braintree, Mass., from natural causes, the same day as Jefferson.
