DWIGHT DAVID EISENHOWER
AFTER THE PRESIDENCY
In 1961 Ike retired to his 230-acre farm near Gettysburg, where he wrote his memoirs and began concentrating on his golf game. As president, golfer Eisenhower generally scored in the 90s, but in the period 1963-1965, he began to dip consistently into the 80s. On Feb. 6, 1968, just one year before his death, Eisenhower finally realized a lifelong ambition. While playing golf in Palm Springs, Calif., the 77-year-old former President shot a hole in one. | ||
