Not only did no one ever come out to watch the Greenwich (Conn.) High School cross-country team, but the runners weren't even invited to the school's annual fall sports rally. Three of the harriers decided to show GHS a thing or two. At their next meet, they ran without their pants. The meet was suspended.

A Houston department store offered a home jogging track in its 1977 Christmas catalog. "Just provide us with at least one-eighth mile," said the Sakowitz catalog, "and we'll provide you with a stone-asphalt-based track coated with urethane." The price: $62.500 (not including tennis shoes).
