Lore: Pluto's late discovery precludes a historic or folk tradition. Ancient peoples were unaware that it existed. The planet was named after the Roman god of the dead, the underworld, and the outer regions. Pluto was the son of Saturn, grandson of Uranus, and brother of Jupiter and Neptune. Mortals generally viewed him with dread.
