To: Baptist Church.

Why: Angie Brooks was descended from three indigenous tribes and was reared in the Methodist Church. She was at a social disadvantage, for the upper crust of Liberian society was descended from freed American slaves. Brooks became a Baptist in her teens and through the help of a Baptist clergyman obtained an opportunity to study law in the U.S. Out of gratitude for this opportunity, she has remained a Baptist and supervises a Baptist high school in Liberia.
