NICOLAUS COPERNICUS, Polish astronomer, died 1543

Last Will: Better known during his lifetime as a physician than as an astronomer, he bequeathed a favorite medical book to his own physician, one Fabian Emmerich, who was also a vicar. Other books went to the library of Frauenburg Cathedral in Frombork, Poland, where the scientist spent his later years as a canon. He left the residue of his estate to a married sister; and his canonry, by prior arrangement, went to the son of a nephew.
