GEORGE ARMSTRONG CUSTER, U.S. soldier, 1839-1876
Where Buried: U.S. Military Academy Cemetery, West Point, N.Y. Gravestone: A 6-ft. granite shaft mounted on a 6-ft. granite pedestal with four bronze medallions of: Custer leading troops; bison; Indian weapons; and epitaph. Epitaph: "Brevet Major General United States Army born December 5, 1839, in Harrison County, Ohio. Killed with his entire command at the Little Big Horn June 25, 1876." Amen: Originally buried on battlefield site, Custer Battlefield National Monument near Hardin, Mont. Casket removed to West Point in 1877.
