The Host: Millionaire C. K. Billings.

The Menu: The guests, all men, lounged in the saddle astride horses that had been brought to the ballroom by elevator, eating pheasant from feed bags and drinking champagne from large rubber casks.

Table Talk: It was said that Billings spent $50,000 for the feast, including the planting of sod on the ballroom floor.
