Located in the eastern Caribbean between Martinique and Guadeloupe, Dominica is a remarkably beautiful island of 4,000-ft. peaks, many small rivers, and thick forests. Dominica became a British Associated State in 1967 and was granted full independence in November, 1978. The island's premier is Col. Patrick John, a Socialist. Today, Dominica is the only West Indian island with an Indian reservation for the native Caribs.
