In the English Channel off the northwest coast of France, these British dependencies represent London's last claim to the old Duchy of Normandy. The Channel Islands consist of Jersey, Guernsey, and the latter's dependencies, Alderney, Brechou, Sark, Herm, Jethou, and Lihou. Cars are illegal on Sark, and all transportation is by bicycle or on foot.
