Spartacus was a Roman slave being trained as a gladiator. Leading a slave rebellion, Spartacus and 78 others escaped. Soon the slave army swelled to 120,000 men. For 3 years they fought and defeated Roman legions. Finally, the armies of Crassus and Pompey combined to crush the rebels.
