About Jules Verne who in 1865 published the sci-fi novel From the Earth to the Moon.

--1865. A young man from the French river town of Nantes ushered in an era of modern science fiction and space travel with a "practical" way of getting From the Earth to the Moon: Two Americans and a Frenchman were shot to the moon in a huge cylindrical "bullett" from an enormous cannon.
