King John Signs the Magna Carta

About the English King John and his signing of the Magna Carta an early set of common laws.

1215 KING JOHN SIGNS THE MAGNA CARTA

When 40 English barons, angry at King John for usurping their rights and privileges, prepared to dethrone their monarch, John compromised. He met with them in a meadow at Runnymede and signed a charter, the Magna Carta, which would eventually serve as the blueprint for English common law.
