Information about Vegetables: Celery

About celery, information about the vegetable, production, history and varieties in the world.

Celery

Wild celery grows in swampy places in Europe and Asia. In the U.S. it is cultivated chiefly in California, Florida, and Michigan. Celery is a lot more versatile than it seems, and since it is very low in calories, many might do well to experiment with it more. To glean its full food value, it is best eaten raw. Try spreading peanut butter or cream cheese on a celery stalk for a snack. Be sure to eat the leaves too, or dry them and use them for seasoning.
