Macadamia Nuts

The macadamia nut is native to Australia, where it is called the Queensland nut. Most of the U.S. supply is grown and harvested in Hawaii, although there is a small industry developing in California and Florida. The supply has never been adequate for the demand. The range of distribution is limited; they are difficult to store, and are subject to mold and rancidity. The macadamia nut is high in protein, fat, and calories. It is a rich food and a good body-builder, as well as being expensive.
