COMPUTER PARK--Tommy Agee's 10th inning double scored Bud Harrelson with the winning run as the 1969 New York Mets defeated the 1951 New York Giants, 4-3, in the opening game of a computerized tournament viewed by an estimated 5,500,000 on the NBC television network.

Agee's game-winning hit in the 10th followed walks to Harrelson and Tom Seaver, the winning pitcher, and came at the expense of loser George Spencer, last of 3 Giant pitchers. Spencer came on in the 10th in relief of Larry Jansen. Sal Maglie, the starting pitcher for the '51 Giants, worked 6 innings and was touched for 3 runs and 7 hits.

Willie Mays, the rookie centerfielder, solved Seaver for a 2-run homer in the 2nd inning to give the '51 Giants a shortlived lead. But after scoring a run in the 3rd, the Mets moved out front on Wayne Garrett's 2-run triple off Maglie.

The Giants tied it up in the 7th on a triple by Bobby Thomson and Eddie Stanky's single, one of 3 hits the 2nd baseman had off Seaver.
