PROVOCATION: Zulu Chief Sirayo's wife, Umhlana, left him. She hid in British territory. Zulu troops crossed border, kidnapped her, had her shot. England declared war over border violation.
RESULT: After initial victories, the Zulu forces were crushed by the British at Ulundi. When Zulu King Cetywayo was captured, his chiefs made peace with England. | ||
