Bolivar and South American Freedom

About Simon Bolivar the revolutionary who liberated his native Venezuela from Spain and a number of other South American countries.

1783-1830 BOLIVAR AND SOUTH AMERICAN FREEDOM

In Rome, 22-year-old Simon Bolivar vowed to free his native Venezuela and other colonies in South America from Spanish rule. Eventually, he led armies that liberated Venezuela, Colombia, Ecuador, Bolivia (named after him), and Panama. He fought 200 battles, and enjoyed 200 mistresses. He died at 47 of tuberculosis.
