In Rome, 22-year-old Simon Bolivar vowed to free his native Venezuela and other colonies in South America from Spanish rule. Eventually, he led armies that liberated Venezuela, Colombia, Ecuador, Bolivia (named after him), and Panama. He fought 200 battles, and enjoyed 200 mistresses. He died at 47 of tuberculosis. | ||
