His Person: British philosopher who believed that all knowledge results from sense experience. Thought that the existence of God was an unproved hypothesis. However, he spoke out against the atheists of his time and was criticized for his conflicting opinions. Argued against the possibility of miracles. Wrote: Dialogues Concerning Natural Religion, Natural History of Religion.
